Shar’s Hints & Tips for Your Reception Venue

After your ceremony, it’s time for you, your family and friends to celebrate.  Whatever style of reception you choose, ensure it reflects exactly what you want.  It will be very memorable for you.

Here are some questions you may like to raise with the Functions Coordinator – meet with them face to face where possible.

  • What are our options for wedding reception packages and the different costs?
  • Will the venue fit our number of guests comfortably?
  • Does the venue have heating/cooling/shade to make for a comfortable wedding reception?
  • What are the menu options and do they cater for special dietary requirements?
  • What are your options for drinks packages and the different costs?
  • Do I have to pay a separate fee to hire the venue?
  • What service standards are offered and what items are supplied by the venue?
  • Who decorates the venue and who supplies the decorations?
  • Is a table and knife supplied for the cutting of the cake and who will take responsibility for cutting the cake into guest size pieces?
  • What time will the venue be available for our guests?
  • What are the seating plan options?
  • How long before the Wedding day do you need our numbers and how flexible are you on last minute changes to numbers of guests?
  • Is there an option to hold the Wedding Ceremony at the reception venue, if last minute change because of weather is required?
  • Are there reduced rate packages for guest’s accommodation or is there nearby accommodation for guests?
  • Is there plenty of parking available?
  • Do you have testimonials available from happy couples?
  • Do they require a deposit and is it refundable or transferable?

Once you have made your decision ask the Function’s Coordinator to put it all in writing for you.
